Rainforest Cafe - Slow service

Treated like trash! I took my daughter and her 6 friends to the rainforest cafe in menlo park mall in new jersey because she was turning 15 years old and the food and service was poor.

There were 8 of us. We patiently waited for 2 hours for a table walking around the mall until we received a text. Then after getting a table, we waited over an hour to get our food after the drinks were brought. I complained to the manager that we had been waiting over an hour and the manager insisted the wait was only 30 minutes but we got seated at 5:10 and it was 6:15pm when we got our food.

The manager rounded up 4 people to bring our food immediately all of a sudden it was ready after I complained. If I did not complain we would have waited 2 hours. We waited so long the teenagers were falling asleep at the table and sighing and yawning at the table with the menus. see the picture.

then we waited 30 minutes to get a lava cake after eating and I complained to the manager about the lava cake and the waitress forgot. I told the manager and he said that its because the cake comes after the dinner was over. but the the waitress kept serving other families who came to the cafe after we got there. several families came after us and left before us.

Then after eating we waiting 30 minutes to get our check after we were done. the waitress was so busy the manager gave us our check. In total we were there for 3 hours. because the service was so poor, I complained to the manger and his response was to quickly put the gratuity charge on my credit card.

Instead of the server bringing the check, the manager brought the check with an announcement that the gratuity was already added in. and he wrote on the receipt gratuity already added at 18%. as you see "18% gratuity included." Instead of hearing my complaints he simply blew them off. I spent $295 in total to wait, essentially 3 hours to eat and the food was awful too...the drinks were watered down.

the waitress had to keep going back to fix the drinks and they were never fixed. The food was awful plates were left empty by the kids and they left the drink cups full because they were so disgusting.

I wondered if this happened because we were Black. I asked the manager if we were the wrong color to be served correctly and he simply said, "He was the wrong color too." I'd never go back and wasted my money and time and my daughters special day remembered for bad food and bad service.

Yes, I too commonly wait 2 hours just for a seat and then spaz out the service wasn't happening like McDonalds.

This has NOTHING to do with your being black. The wait is two hours because people came BEFORE you, and food takes time to cook. Black or white, you still have to wait your turn, and you still have to wait for the food to cook. You are making blacks look bad.

LIke they are thieves who want free meals.

You eat the food you pay for it. Also, stop with it because I am black.

Never been here, but please open more locations! Hello Rainforest Cafe. My name is Cameron Bell and I am from Utah. Ive seen many great things about your restaurant but cant go because the closest restaurant is in Las Vegas, NV or Phoenix, AZ. Please open one in Utah such as Salt Lake City for I personally think it would attract a lot of customers (myself included) and make you guys more money. Thanks! -Cameron Bell

No one from rainforest Café answers the phone

Ive been trying to make a reservation for my daughters first birthday party for over a month now they refuse to answer the phone. The corporate office number is it a working number this is a complete waste of time.

Rainforest Cafe - Unhappy with visit
We drove 1.5 hours to celebrate two birthdays. The meals were terribly expensive. Just appetizers and a couple diet cokes was over $75.00 plus tip. The bathroom was absolutely disgusting. We asked if they did anything special for birthdays and they said you can buy a dessert and we will sing. That is ridiculous. At that price, a simple scoop of ice cream should be given. We will never go back. Im requesting a refund. That was the worst birthday celebration ever. We definitely picked the wrong place to go.

I had the fish and chips. The fish tasted like when food is frozen for a very long time and its thrown to be fried . It also tasted like the cardboard box that it comes in. Very disappointed will never go back to the Sawgrass rainforest restaurant ever!

If you think that the service is slow, maybe you are not adult enough to eat at a dine-in the restaurant. Have you ever thought that the service was slow because of the time to take to cook the food, or the employee has a physical disability. Hope one day you are seriously injured and have a childlike adult like yourself be impatient with it slowing you down.

Awful treatment of customers

My husband and 2 children called to make reservations. We were told there were none to just come in. We came in at 5:08 and were given a ticket and were told we would receive text at approx 7:01. We waited... and waited ..and waited. Walkins were coming in waiting a few minutes and going in. It was 7:10 now and People were coming in waiting 15 to 30 min and walking in. When we asked about what our wait was and why we were not called yet we were given an attitude and told they were backed up. This occured 4 times.. until 8:00 pm. Needless to say we left and will never again come back nor recommend this place to anyone again.

Birthday meal ruined at Disney Springs

Booked a table a week in advance for my birthday but we're made to wait for over half an hour for table. Whilst other "walk ins" seemed to be seated straight away. Took 90 minutes for the food to arrive and then some of it was cold and burnt. Spoke to the manager who never even apologised . Honestly could of had a better time and better food at MacDonald s, for a fraction of the price ..would not recommend!!!

I was dining at rainforest cafe at american niagara hospitality located at sheraton 300 third street, niagara falls. I just experienced a horrible management service. I ordered my appetizer first before the drinks came, and ordered 2 entree when the water was served. It took them 15 minutes to serve the appetizer and 56 minutes to serve my entree after the appetizer. Ppl after us have alreay got the food and i asked one of the waiters how long it will take. He checked and told me its coming, he apologized for the long waiting and said we can take the food off the order if its that long. The two entree finally got to our table and by the time, i have lost all my appetites. I asked to take one of them off my order and the waiter did so. After 3 minutes, the manager Jeff came to my table, talking to me directly "you are not waiting more than 30 minutes." He was very arrogant and i told him yes, i have the proof as i took a food picture when i got the food. He was like "well, im just telling u that its not the way it works." And he walks away, not even making an apology. I was pissed and went after him and asked why i was interrogated,and why he lied about my waiting time? Shouldnt the cafe provide a good quality service ? Shouldnt our customers come enjoy the dinner? Why he stood there and looking at me and my mom like we were doing something wrong?? He just shrugged his shoulders and said he removed the money for one of the entree. Again, no apology,not even a respectul response. He turned away. I have to make a complain and im asking why a MANAGER acts like this?!!? I dont mind paying for food, but how come they came to treat customers like this? I am a Chinese and i always appreciate the great services in america and i respect ppl from all aspects. A restaurant will never be a good one if they have this disrespectful manager. I am making complaints about the manager Jeff. And i will never ever go to this restraurant again.

Horrible experience. Showed up 10 minutes before our 5pm reservation and table was given away, waited 30 min for new table and they tried splitting up our birthday party (wtf), took wrong order, one order came out 15 min after the others when the rest of us were practically done eating, over heard wait staff talking about stomach bug going around the staff while in the bathroom (ironically my son has been throwing up nonstop just one day later), and tickets of all of us were all wrong. Nothing was comped, only an I'm sorry. Sorry is all well and fine but you ruined my trip to San Antonio and provided for a really *** birthday experience for two people. Received a phone call from manager after submitting feedback at Landrys.com for the San Antonio location. Boy they are good at saying I'm sorry and that's about it. Basically accused me of lying about having a reservation (then why did hostess acknowledge we had one???). I do stand corrected and apparently the birthday cake slices were comped (that's typical at any restaurant so I'm not impressed with that). I still expected far more than an I'm sorry and I'll speak with my people. I felt punked, ruined a family trip and birthdays, and still stand by other restaurants doing far more to make up for horrible dinning experiences for far less egregious errors.

I was waiting for a table for an hour. I went and asked if the pager was woeking. Tge kid told me sorry but it didnt abd i was put on a prority seating snd i was 2 in line. I stood thierand waited. I saw the host give out new seating for 5 people. U asked a manager whats going on. He told me that he would find out. He looked cobfused so iI just said forget it Ill just go somewhere that would seat me. He just said sorry and have a great day. I was so embarresed.....

Terrible...

Finally made it into the Rainforest Cafe at the Downtown Disney location in Orlando. I have been to another location in Southern Ca before and the experience was fine. Terrible service. Asked for a booth and received attitude. Got a booth but the worker cleaning it was slow as molasses. He fathered talk to another worker. Mozzarella sticks were frozen, stuck in microwave. The Tomato sauce is from cans. Ordered Parmesan Chicken and it was raw. The linguini was bagged, no flavor, heated up in water. No fresh ingredients, overpriced, bad service and better food is found at fast food restaurants. The smell of the artificial smoke throughout the restaurant made us ***

I know you are a child, and were anxious to go to Disney but sometimes people need to take time to make sure the tables are clean. She may have been slow to you, but if she did a rush job then your parents would be complaining about the dirty table.

Or perhaps she could have a handicap and that is what made her work slow. Either way it is the OP who has an attitude, not the employees. But you have a good point, it is better to do a thorough job and take your time than do a terrible job and rush.

Horrific experience

I am asking for someone to contact me regarding the horrible experience we had at the Rainforest Cafe (Edison NJ Menlo Park Mall 08837) on 4/20/2013 by Server: Dave Table 32/1, Guests 3 adults one child, Reprint #1, Day Part: Shift B at 5:31pm 30091. Bill total $83.36. The server was terrible. The appetizers Spinach @Artichoke Dio came out COLD. We placed some with the chips in each persons dish and it was cold- we FINALLY got his attention and he said he would take care of it. What did he do??? warmed up the remaining portion in plate and gave it back to us ignoring the other portion that was uneatten and fully charged. We told him about the mozzerealla cheese sticks being cold he took it back never replaced it. The meal comes and the Quesadilla is cold and the drink needed to be replenished- we couldnt find him. Finally, I went to your hostess ( Cheyene or Champane couldnt tell) and she graciously refilled my granddaughters drink so she could eat. Her fries were left because cold. A manager- lovely african american woman asked if everything was alright we kept looking for our server- I told her that it really wasnt but was not going to talk about while we were there to celebrate my granddaughters bd. It was a total mess and I am VERY UPSET. The waiter took an additional 20 minutes to come back with the bill while the line outside grew. Children love to come to this place but there is NO excuse for this service. I am asking for a full refund.

You do not deserve a full refund. What you need to do is get a job so you do not have to make up fibs to get free food.

Or take your children to a food kitchen. There are also programs like food stamps and WIC.

No need to lie to get free food from restaurants. You should get a partial refund, but not be refunded for the food you ate.

I do not agree with you. I eat at Menlo Park rain forest regualrly with my kids.

The place is very well managed. Staff is attentive and service is good. We never had any bad experience. Food is good.

I particularly like the way they keep kids engaged. If everything was as bad as you are saying than I would immidiately leave.

I wouldn't sit, eat cold food and pay. I do not believe you.

It seems like she is just trying to get her food for free. Some people would do anything to get their food for free, even lie and say it was cold and terrible.

It is a shame because it forces restaurants to raise the price for the rest of us, and these restaurants already are expensive. The saddest thing is she is teaching her own children the same bad moral.

Nickle and Dime yet they have no time

Manager looks like he rolled out of bed and has no clue what is going on in his establishment. The wait staff is very unattentive and forget about even trying to find them once you put your order in til the time they give you your food from that point on as well. The food and drinks are over priced and they will even charge you .50cents for a piece of bread to keep your kid calm til they bring out your food 45mins later and that's on a slow day on a busy day you looking at 45-60MINS. (oh and mind you I always go with 5+ people so are bill is anywhere for $75/130+ not including a tip in which the service has never been good and I have been here a lot. But I am more PO'ed about the .50 cents for a piece of bread are you Kidding me talk about smack in the face) Are bill was $71.61 for 4 kids meals, 2kids character head cups and a veggie burger oh ya with fries for an extra cost of $1.29 mind you the sandwich is $11.99 the cups are $8.00 each oh yes and let you know they will charge you .99cents to refill the cup every time. I will NEVER go back here again I understand business is business; and I for one understands business very well but this is just outrageous I didn't care about the cups OK but to charge .99 every refill when the cup is $8.00 and to charge me .50cents for a piece of bread to keep a child happy since this place is so kid dumb you would think they would provide these kids with some kind of bread,popcorn/something to keep them calm til their food comes out 45mins later. And yes every time I have went here this is how long it takes to get a your meal. The only reason I go is for the kids other than that I would never go to this place and now I will NEVER go back To anyone who works as a wait staff here or anywhere for that matter use some common sense why would you charge .50cents for a piece of bread for something that is not really going to effect the lost cost to the restaurant especially when they have told you they have been here several times and are with 5 people and only asking for bread. I mean come on are you really. Don't you think from the moment you walk into your establishment you already start to nickle and dime people starting the restaurant with a huge open store front gift shop and you can't even have something for children to munch on while waiting 45min patiently for their food I mean come on. Yes it is only .50 cents that is not my point in business its principle.

Things I could suggest to make sure you don't waste your money/time. Don't go.

The place is designed to crack open your wallet, reach inside, and take as much money as it can. So when people come in expecting to pay $30.00, and end up paying $75.00, guess who get's shorted? Your safari guide(server). They have to put up with the constant noise, the rude kids, and their corporate managers threatening to fire them if they fail to sell enough of those characters cups a day.

Landry knows this, and doesn't care.

Service sucks because the employee moral is right around zero. So do everyone in this situation a favor, stay home or go someplace else.

Rainforest Cafe Flamable magnet

Do not purchase liquid filled fridge magnets from Rain Forest Cafe, the ones that are made in China. When my daughter dropped hers it cracked and we discovered it is filled with either Kerosene or paint thinner. My daughter has played with this a hundred times, thank goodness she is old enough to notice the chemical smell and brought it to me immediately. Do not purchase this product for your kids!! This is not a slam on the food, service or staff at any of the resturants, this is simply a reminder that products brought into the United States do not have the same safety standards I HOPE we have in place here.
